Yay, my 2nd artwork for this year! :D

Previously I have drawn 4 oriental beauties from China, Korea, Japan and Hong Kong. So for this round, adding into this series will be the beauty from Taiwan. Yes, she is none other than Vivian Hsu! Okay, I'm not sure about her popularity in the recent years but I do know that she is in entertainment industry for quite some time and had ventured into many different fields from singing, acting, modelling to songwriting. She is also recently been featured in many beauty-related advertisement mainly because she still able to maintain her beauty and youthfulness despite her 40-years old age.

Before I choose any Taiwanese model to feature in my work, I planned to look the one who is well-known and at the same time captivate my attention. But as I search through Google, I can't seem to find anyone that can fit well into my criteria. It is either she was famous but not so attractive or vice versa. That is until I decided to look for Vivian Hsu's photos. I admit that I was first reluctant to choose her as my art subject because of her age. But after much consideration while comparing with others, she does fits my criteria - well-known and captivated my attention.

Of all the available photos of her, I finally chose the one that she featured in Biotherm advertisement. As I draw her face, I realize she had many good features. She had perfect eyes, cute nose and sexy lips. And even the shape of her face is also perfect. That is why it's really fun to draw her face. The part where I put the most effort is her hair. This considered the first time that I really put much attention into shaping her hair. Although it's not as precise as the actual photo, I had put so much of details that you can actually see how the strands of hair flows.

So, what do you think about my artwork? I hope you guys will like it! :)

This probably my last artwork featuring oriental beauties until I found another nationality that attracts me. Next, I may plan to draw westerners but that might take some time to figure who as there are so many of them! LOL. =P

It appears that I have been hidden in the dark for long. My art life no longer as active as before. It's not that I'm wearied of drawing, just that now I have to start focus on my life path; not to spend too much time with computer... rather, I should go out often and do some socializing. Otherwise, you gain nothing but mundane routine. (Life ain't fun that way, right?)

So about this art, it's nothing much special. It's not the usual digital drawing + cosplay thingy, but rather a pure digital drawing from a reference. She's a random model whom I found in the net (not that I knew who is she though). My purpose of this art, is to ensure that my skills are still intact and also a prove to my FB friends that I can draw LOL (Well, my colleagues tend to think, when I say draw, they thought it's just pencil-anime kind of drawing. Didn't expect that I can draw digital realism... LOL :XD:)

Anyway, though it's nothing special... I hope you do enjoy this. Not sure when I will be back again. And if I do, probably I will just do the same... with same objective. Hmm... so, bad news or good news? Well, I leave you all to judge :)

Update (6th March) - Added in skin texture and readjust the coloring to match the original skin tone color.

Yay, 1st artwork for this year! :D

As mentioned in my latest journal, I have drawn 3 girls from different nationalities: China, Korea and Japan. So this time, I am featuring an actress from Hong Kong. Basically I didn't know her existence until I watch the movie called Helios. Her character in the movie as a deadly assassin seem convincing to my standard though there were certain part where she looked kinda cute for a deadly assassin LOL. Anyway, I'm not so familiar with any of the Hong Kong actresses around... so I just simply pick one which I encountered recently. As I browsed her photos on Google, I found out that she is one of the Hong Kong pseudo-models, which Angelababy is also another famous one. So between Janice Man and Angelababy, I decided to go for Janice since I personally felt she looks more beautiful than the latter.

Choosing the best reference photo for Janice Man is quite challenging. I figure that she has "different faces" that I couldn't determine which photo is featuring her exactly. If you Google search based on her name, you can see she has 2 distinctive faces: 1. Her 'rock-star' look where she has brunette hair, thin & slanting eyebrow, 'wild' expression and often wear teenage/party type of outfits; 2. her 'innocent, decent cute look' where she has black hair, thick and broad eyebrows, happy-go-lucky expression and often fashioned herself in elegant style. After much consideration, I go for her 2nd look since I like to draw girls in that style compare the first one.

In this artwork, I put less focus on her clothing. Instead, I put more effort on her hair and face. I honestly like her soft long hair so I took quite a while to draw her hair as close as the actual photo especially on how her hair flows and the shape. Her face, though it is easy as you look but when I try to replicate her alluring look... it ain't easy as her face in the reference photo is quite fair, therefore the face features (shadow and lighting) are not clearly visible. I have been touching up for god-knows how many times until the final result.

After 2 months (include procrastination), I have finally completed the artwork! I hope you guys will like it. :)

So who's gonna be for the next artwork? At the moment, I am seriously has no clue who to draw but I suppose the next one will be a Taiwanese girl? Well, let's see later!

Till then, see ya!

Hello and HAPPY NEW YEAR 2016 to all my Watchers out there! How are you guys? I hope everything is going well last year and wish for the same or even better for this year round. :)

It's been long that I didn't visit DA and I've realized that many features have been changed. The old features have been upgraded to better and the upload part has becoming easier. I'm not sure about the rest but I sure think it is better than previous time. (Obviously, otherwise it is not called upgraded right? LOL).

Now that I update this journal, does that mean I will be back active on DA once more? The good news, I may be returning once more since my work life has becoming easier after the company finally employed a few of my new minions. But the bad news, my art submission may not be as frequent as before. And probably, I may not be drawing video game fan arts (like Final Fantasy/Kingdom Hearts) for a very long time.

Reason being, I hardly have the leisure time to play game. Even my recently bought game, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, I don't have the time or mood to continue play. Somehow I do not have the urge/passion to complete the game. The moment I use those time to play game, my mind starts to think that I'm wasting time and I suppose to dedicate such time for better activity (No offense to gamers out there, this is my personal feeling). So now that game is collecting dust and god knows that when will I play the game.

Nevertheless, the thought of not drawing game fan arts may not be forever. I am still following up updates on the latest development of my favorite games since social media is so convenient to check out for new update. If I spot interesting character (particularly female) that ignite my urge to draw... I might consider of breaking the chain and draw like crazy!!! Haha!!

But for now, I will be sticking to my latest drawing trend. If you noticed, there are 3 recent and not-so-recent artworks have been uploaded to my gallery. These series of artwork are basically a way to ensure that my drawing skill is not rusty (It will be very disheartening if the skills that I learned for years suddenly gone just like that).

All 3 girls that were featured in my artworks are originated from Asia countries, particularly from the Orient. Vivian Zhang is from China, Lee Ji Min is from Korea and Tsubasa Honda is from Japan. Actually this trend is not planned initially. All these are mere coincidence that the girls capture my attention are different nationality.

So I decided to continue this trend and immediately start up a new drawing after uploaded the latest artwork. This time the female featured in the new artwork will be a Hong Kong actress. Then together with all 4 or probably 5 artworks completed, I will combine these into one and dub it as "The Orient Beauties". :D

Excited to hear about my plan? I hope you do! :D

Till I complete the artwork, I shall see y'all soon! Bye!

Hello everyone! After a long time of hiatus, finally I'm back again with a new digital drawing :D

It seems that for the past few artworks, I have been drawing real person which is either unknown or not so popular to main steam audiences. I don't know why this happened but perhaps one day, I should draw someone which everyone know. Anyway, the person featured in this artwork is Tsubasa Honda. The first time I know about this Japanese actress is after I watched the entire series of GTO (2012). Yeah I know I was a bit of dinosaur for watching old series and kinda random, but her character portrayal as Urumi Kanzaki somehow makes me wanna draw her. And so, after I search her images online and one of the photos (the one I drew based on) captured my attention.

What's unique about this reference photo is that she wore the outfits which rather unique and complicated (I just like the cat-ear headband she wore =P). Since I felt like wanna challenge my skills after a long time haven't flex my muscles, I decided to use the photo and try out. The process of drawing this artwork took me about a month (after eliminating all the days of procrastination). I have particularly focus on few areas where I put my most attention to. First is the hair and another is the clothing. While I tried to draw as accurate as the original photo, somehow I hold myself back and put a little of "unrealistic" or "obviously-drawn" elements. Reason being is that I don't want to make the artwork so spot-on to the real photo that people might mistook it as the "photo" itself. And with that happened, people will just scroll away or don't pay attention... Yeah, the "dilemma".

I hope you guys will like this digital illustration. Like I said, perhaps I shall return with another drawing which featured a well-known person this time. Till then, see ya again! :D

All the artworks you have seen in this gallery are drawn with Adobe Photoshop and Wacom Graphire 4 tablet pen. If you wondering where I got the drawing skills from, it was all self-taught. I didn't attend any graphic or art school. Everything you see here are all learned by myself. I learn how to use Photoshop by simply try and error on the tools and other features. If I wasn't sure on how to achieve certain effect, I go around Google or YouTube and look for tutorials. Sometimes, I do consult some of my friends who have experience with Photoshop.

Find it hard to believe? LOL. In fact, a lot people when they see my artwork, they couldn't believe that I drawn them by myself. But it happened anyway =P. So if you guys out there want to be a great artist, always believe in yourself that you can do it. And, don't be discourage when your friends did not believe that you can draw! :D

I have been searching for talented artists, then I came across your work. I just started an art venture platform called ‘digoworld’ which is being developed and expected to be completed in the late 3Q of this year. It is basically an open market where you can sell your caricature or portrait drawn from customer’s uploaded picture, and a community site plus private gallery. If it's interesting to you, you can join us at www.digoworld.com. Hopefully I can see you there~~!!
